Worldwide BYOD Growth to Reach Double Digits in 2016

December 11, 2015

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) usage will expand to double-digit worldwide growth during 2016, according to a new forecast.

Syntonic recently released its top predictions for BYOD. The company’s executive team expects demand to continue, with BYOD growth reaching 20 percent during the next year.

The team also predicts that European adoption of BYOD will outpace the rest of the world with a 30% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in 2016.

BYOD is a business trend, embraced by many companies, that allows employees to bring their own devices to work. It’s generally viewed as a trade-off between reducing capital expenditures for the company while increasing the risk of data security breaches as personal devices are connected to the company network.

Syntonic also predicts that high-tech companies will offer small-to-medium sized businesses (SMBs) greater opportunities to adopt a BYOD policy with technical solutions that have previously been only available to larger shops. Specifically, the company cites apps like Microsoft (News - Alert) Intune and Android for Work as evidence that affordable BYOD services are becoming available to SMBs.

Further, Syntonic sees CFOs and CIOs becoming key stakeholders in BYOD management. That’s because BYOD impacts almost every department of an organization. As a result, there will be mutual agreement among upper management about the importance of BYOD and its proper implementation. They’ll also ensure that there’s a proper checks-and-balance system in place between various departments.

The executive team at Syntonic also says that Apple (News - Alert) and Microsoft will “shake up” the BYOD market. Apple will take a shot at securing the lead with new “work ready” features available in the next iOS update. Microsoft, on the other hand, will aggressively pursue the BYOD market with Microsoft Intune – a cross-platform device and application management solution.

"Businesses of every size in every part of the world are becoming increasingly reliant on mobile devices for conducting business operations, and the mobile enabled workforce has become the new normal," says Syntonic CEO Gary Greenbaum. "BYOD is now mainstream and forthcoming legislation will continue to raise awareness for reimbursement and compliance issues surrounding BYOD."

Syntonic is a mobile platform service provider that supports BYOD managed services. The company also offers opportunities for publishers to monetize content on mobile devices.
